Visit Kuks in 2024

Kuks is famous for its Baroque-era hospital complex, a masterpiece designed by Giovanni Battista Alliprandi and established in the late 17th century. Founded by Count František Antonín Špork, the hospital was intended to serve wounded soldiers and later transformed into an almshouse. The establishment now serves as a museum and is considered one of the finest examples of Baroque architecture in the Czech Republic.
Adjacent to the hospital is the breathtaking Baroque garden, adorned with the masterful sculptural work of Matthias Braun, one of the most celebrated sculptors of the era. His statues of Virtues and Vices are a must-see. A pharmacy, also part of the complex, exhibits historical medical instruments and practices, providing a rare insight into 17th-century medicine.
Apart from the historical structures, Kuks is surrounded by the stunning natural landscapes of the Krkonoše Mountains. The town also hosts annual events like classical concerts and art exhibitions, which add a lively vibe to this otherwise serene locale.
