Visit Telc in 2024

Telč is a small yet immensely charming town located in the Vysočina Region. Founded in the 14th century as a royal water fort, it gained prominence in the Renaissance period under the rule of Zachariáš of Hradec, who undertook extensive renovations that transformed the town's appearance. Today, the centerpiece of Telč is its picturesque square, adorned with colorful houses featuring high gables and arcades. These buildings are considered some of the best-preserved examples of Bohemian architecture.
The chateau, originally a Gothic castle, was transformed into a stunning Renaissance residence in the 16th century and is another must-visit landmark. It houses an extensive art collection and beautifully decorated rooms that reflect the opulence of that period. The garden behind the chateau is a wonderful place to enjoy a peaceful stroll.
Telč also offers an array of activities for outdoor enthusiasts, such as boating on the town's ponds or hiking in the surrounding nature reserves. From historic churches to vibrant local festivals, this little town provides a perfect blend of cultural richness and natural beauty.
